I have just learned that frequent Axler author Nick Pollotta lost his battle with cancer today. More in a few hours when I am back at my desk.

I heard that on the DL/OL Facebook page. That's truly sad. He wrote some pretty decent books for the series.

I will miss his stories. My condolences.

Nick had just finished an Executioner novel on Wednesday and was about to start a Deathlands. He was a very funny person, and very upbeat during his illness, never feeling sorry for himself in his public persona. I'll miss his bon mots and his generous nature. God bless.

Sad news indeed. I never liked Nicks style and approach to DL but looked forward to each one as it meant another volley of humorous e mails from him when I contacted him about it.
    I will miss him.

You should share some of those -mails with us. I'd like to hear what he had to say about your feelings towards his books.

Although I too didn't care for his last few years of books, I found him in the beginning to be a stand-alone DL writer. He quickly warmed up to it, and then wrote some damn solid stories.

My condolences go out to his family. Either way, he wrote his way, and left a legacy. RIP Mr. Pollatta!

Aww, that sucks. Wished you would have kept them.

I really enjoyed his early works. Sure he started out a little shaky in terms of characterization, but very quickly Nick seemed to've done his homework on the characters of DL, and very shortly his portrayal of the companions was pretty spot-on.

And he always gave us a harsh post-holocaust scenario. Titles such as Nick's Zero City. Savage Armada, , Devil Riders and Bloodfire, just to name a few, were excellent entries in the DL universe.

He wrote one of my favourite Deathland's "Time Castaway's". Zero City, Shatter Zone, Desert King's Perdition Valley all good too.

I just read Ron's Blog, seems like he was a pretty cool guy.
