Conn Iggulden's Conqueror series, tho not historically accurate, a ripping yarn. David Moody's Autumn series, Liked his Zombies. JL Bournes Day by day Armageddon, liked the diary format and his Zombies. General Sir John Hackett's The third world war (do two books count as a series??) Robyn Youngs Templar trilogy Brethren, Crusade, Requiem.

Although now somewhat dated "The third world war" is still a well written and quite chilling account of just what might of been. The chapters on the bombing of Birmingham are especially chilling.

And the retaliatory strikes against Minsk were non too pretty either. I particularly enjoyed the Air wars chapter in the second book "The untold story". Often surprised by how many authors list General Sir John Hackett's books as influences on their work.
