Got home late last night. Ben is home resting with his mom. We may have to go back to the hospital in Alabama within two weeks if his drain doesn't dry up.

Thanks for the quick update. Hope you'll don't have to go to Alabama.

And I hope he is resting peacefully. I have a son with autism, so I know firsthand what you parents are kinda going through. I truly hope the worst is behind your son and his parents can begin to breathe a little easier.

So, we had another go-around in the hospital last Friday because he pulled out his abdominal drain. The good news is they were able to find exactly where the internal tear was that was causing bilious fluid to be leaked, and they put in a stent to bypass it. No more drain necessary. He'll have to go back in about six weeks to have the stent removed, but aside from that he is doing very well. He is still resting and barely has an appetite, but that is to be expected at this point. By March we should start getting a good idea of what is going to be the New Normal going forward, but so far it looks very good. As of today I am back at my desk working full time, and should have this site brought back up to date over the next few days.

Sorry to read this Ron... being a parent I can fully understand what you've been going through. I would not wish this on my worst enemy.

I'm damn glad that things are working out for him.

Had no real idea anything was going on, but then again, that's what happens when I stop in to look at what's been posted about once every 3 months or so.

Still, glad to see things are better man.

He's good, thanks for asking. He returned to school full-time at the beginning of April, and has not had any relapses. About a week ago he even started extending his day into the after-program and is doing quite well there. They actually have him going on community outings several days per week, working at places like the Salvation Army getting practical job experience. It is pretty great to see.

Plus he was a wicked cool scar, which chicks dig.
