Most common were deformities, but there were many cases of gigantism, but over the two hundred years since the war, most of the mutants died off. Only those in remote and relatively inaccessible locations survived, or ones that possessed mutations that caused the creature to become more hearty. As a side note, many of the mutants were actually products of genetic engineering, humanoids bred to adapt and survive in a post holocaust environment.  Most of the humanoids are gone, having been hunted down and destroyed over the years. But several of the hardier races such as the Swampies and Stickies can still be found in the ruined cities and outlands.

Generally most of the redoubts were military in nature, but many were used for scientific research and so forth.  The most common factor is that they all possessed mat trans or gateways. A vast majority had ties into the Totality concept, but others were kept apart from the Concept, having darker uses.

Roamers: Outlaw wanderers of the outlands who rob and murder.

Sandcat: A modified F.A.V. vehicle used by the ville Magistrate forces for transport and combat inside the villes, and for excursions into the Outlands.

Sec Men:  A derogatory term used in conjunction with the ville Magistrates. Many times a Swampie is dropped due to wounds sustained, only to get up and continue fighting a short time after.

Termination warrant: legal sanction to execute someone.
