Abe Rode with Trader for fifteen years as a gunner on War Wag One. He joined the band just after Ryan did, but before J.B. This small, skinny unassuming man always seemed to have the worst luck when it came to just about everything. He has been wounded but managed to survive many times.

Abe's past is shrouded in mystery. He's told so many different stories about his past life, so many times, he can no longer separate fact from fiction.

He used Jolt several times in his past and over dosed on it once during his teens, and was never quite the same ever since. Occasionally usually about once a year, during times of great stress, he would 'zone' out for a brief period of time.

He was one of the twelve members of the group that left War Wag One in the Darks to head out to the redoubt. After witnessing the destruction of the 'guardian', just before reaching the redoubt it's self, the group was attacked by a group of natives. Abe was shot through the neck and left behind, as there is no way that they would have been able to take him with them.

Luckily for Abe, the natives took him in and nursed him back to health. After that, he went out on his own. For the next several years he travelled, eventually landing in New Mexico where he fell into the clutches of a highly intelligent Stickie named Charlie. Once again, his luck worked in strange and mysterious ways. He ended up being reunited with his friends, Ryan Cawdor, and J.B. Dix.

The group managed to escape from the clutches of the mutants, wiping out nearly the entire group. Once again Abe is sorely wounded in the fight, but survives and is nursed back to health at Jak and Christina's farm. It's during this time that he lets the others know that he has heard rumours about Trader being alive.

After the group use the Mat-Trans to jump, they find themselves in the Ruins of Chicago. Here Abe has the luck to witness an actual time trawl and meets Michael Brother. After a late night attack and being separated from the group, only to be found the next day again, alive but naked, he decides to leave. His reasoning is that he is positive that Trader pulled him out of the river.

Abe spends the next several months travelling to the Pacific North west where he finally finds Trader, very much alive, but no longer the same man. For the next three months, they live together, sending out messages in hopes of contacting Ryan and his band. At first Abe is afraid of his former mentor, always agreeing with everything he say's and does. But as time wears on, he finally loses some of his fear for the man.

When they are finally reunited, they travel together again for a short period of time, Then, near the island chains west of California, they encounter Straub and a group of brushwooders. After the destruction of the village, the vengeful survivors, led by Struab and accompanied by scabbies, confront the group.

Trader pushes the raft holding the others. He and Abe stay behind to fight off the group of twenty or more people and mutants.

It's not known if Abe survived or was killed in this battle.
