Deathlands Story becoming Reality--kinda

Many might recall the book where Ryan and JB took the LAV-25 from the Jaks place in the SW up to find Trader around Seattle, WA.
In the story they traveled up Hwy 82 into S. Central WA up to Yakima WA. They then took the logging roads from there to Chinook Pass where they crossed over to the West Side of the mountians. I wondered when I read that, why not just take Hwy 410 up and over.
Yesterday the answer came to light. A 1/4 mile section of the road was wiped clean when the mountian fell on it.

If this kind of thing had happened after skydark then the road would never have been opened again.
