I would like to use this website to plead to one of the all-time best authors to create awesomeness to the DL universe to do the same to Outlanders.

Please, please, please Chuck....can u do us all a major favor and resurrect this series? Huh? Can ya?

That is very kind of you to suggest, Maximus.  My current plan is to finish the latest Bolan and then ask for a contract for some more DL books.

Oh, man! Thanks for answering so quickly, Mr. Rogers!

You mean you DON"T have a contract for the next DL?! How can they not have signed you for infinity and beyond by now?

Oh, GE, you are truly making us fans crazy! So then you sir are not even finished or even penning another DL?

Excellent! More DL books from Chuck Rogers is a very exciting prospect, indeed. I'd hate to wait 2 years between rogers novels like last time.

It's a no brainer really. Get really good and popular author and get them to do the next five books. And repeat. And repeat.

    Absolutely true!

But, unfortunately, as they have proven, over and over, Gold Eagle is gonna do what Gold Eagle wants ta do.

That would be MARK ELLIS, wouldn't it?

I think Shakespeare is more likely to write for GE than it would be for Mr Ellis to return to the fold.

So here's the issue with that plan:  Any author who is really good and popular can make more money writing books elsewhere. Bear in mind that those of us that hang out here are in the extreme minority in terms of being aware of who the actual authors are. The vast majority of people who purchase a book with James Axler on the cover have no idea that Axler is a house name, or even that such a thing as a house name exists. After fifteen years I have stopped being surprised at how often I personally get emails addressed to "Mr. Axler" just because I run this website.

It is a shame how little sales this series gets. It would be better for GE surely to try and keep a "successful" series up and running than try to establish a new series or standalone novel.

Really? What kind of sales does this series get? How many copies did God War sell? How many copies for Genesis Sinister? How many copies does an average Outlanders book sell vs. an average Deathlands book? How does that compare to other series fiction?

I have no idea Ron. What I was trying to say was that it was a shame that DL and Ol are not more mainstream and popular because they are not any worse than alot of the garbage that is currently making millions at cinemas and bookshops around the world.

Ah. Sadly, I think on a standard Venn Diagram we would find that "quality" and "popular" tend to have very little overlap.

I mean they must sell enough to make the series economically viable. One mans DL/Ol is a teenagers twilight.

Exactly that. Honestly, with today's media landscape I don't think being hugely popular is really necessary or even desirable if you want any kind of sustainability. To reach any kind of broad cultural awareness it seems you have to reach a lowest common denominator to create the widest appeal. This is what gives us The Jersey Shore and Honey Boo Boo.

I make no bones about the fact that Gold Eagle is just Harlequin For Men. My joking description of GE is something like "trashy pulp men's fiction, in which men relate to other men primarily with small caliber weapons, and women exist primarily for the purpose of having firm breasts." It's not really true, but it *feels* true.

Yeah, I kinda agree with you, Ron.

DL and OL we ALL know, if done right by a solid production company and solid director, (James Cameron anybody?) would make a HUGE Box Office hit. I mean, fuck, if the latest Twilight trash can make it, then surely a huge DL/OL production surely could!

Its all about names and faces and mostly LOTS OF SPIN AND COMMERCIALS THAT TANTALIZE and Titillate !

So, has this happened yet, Mr. Rogers? Can we expect more Chuck-penned DL awesomeness in the near future?
